Channing Daughters Winery / Label Design

Channing Daughters Winery was started by venture capitalist and sculptor, Walter Channing. As he was clearing his sprawling farmland in Sag Harbor, NY, large trees were removed from over-grown fields and wooded areas. The root balls of the trees fascinated and intrigued Channing. The unearthed trees were cleaned of soil, inverted and mounted on tripod frameworks, soaring skyward to become the back drop to the vineyard. These large upside-down trees/site sculptures could be viewed from miles away, creating eerie silhouettes on the horizons of Long islands flat farmland. Ultimately the trees became the iconic, identifying graphic for Channing Daughters Winery.
